homephone

A calling network for families

A little more
conversation.

The after-school catch-up. A story for Grandma. A call to a friend, just because.

Homephone connects households and the people they know, with contacts approved by parents. Now we’re bringing that network to a phone made for the home.

Meet our family pilot

Screenless phone in development. Real conversations at the heart of it.

Their friends. Your family. One home phone network.

01 / The connection comes first

A home phone.
A much bigger circle.

The person on the other end doesn’t need the same phone.

Homephone is a shared household account and a calling network. Our app connects approved contacts on iPhone and iPad. The physical phone we’re developing will join that same network.

That means a child at home can call a parent using the Homephone app on their mobile, or another household on Homephone.

Calls stay within Homephone over the internet. This isn’t calling ordinary mobile or landline numbers.

01

People you choose.

Parents manage the household’s approved contacts. A circle of family and friends, chosen by you.

02

A place for a chat.

A shared phone for the home, so children can call their people without needing a smartphone of their own.

03

Home to mobile.

The upcoming phone and the Homephone app are being brought together on one network. No SIM needed in the home phone.

02 / Made to belong at home

Meet Arc.

A familiar gesture, reimagined.
A curved handset. A quiet presence.
A phone with conversation at its centre.

Design concept. Final shape and materials may change during development.

Pick up. Say who.
Start a conversation.

That’s the experience we’re working towards: lift the handset and ask for an approved contact. Lift to answer a ringing call; put it down to hang up.

The hardware is still in development. The pilot will help us test the complete experience in real homes.

03 / Small beginning. Real households.

Our first
20 families.

Help shape what a home phone can be.

We’re preparing a small hardware pilot to learn how families use Homephone day to day: who they call, what makes it easy, and what needs to work better.

What we’re building towards

  1. 01

    One complete phone

Bring calling, handset audio and the enclosure together.

  2. 02

    A small first trial

Learn from everyday use before making the full batch.

  3. 03

    Twenty connected families

Test the experience that matters: people calling people.

A few things you might be wondering

Let’s talk details.

Can it call someone on their mobile?

The physical phone is being developed to call approved contacts through the Homephone app on their mobile. Both sides need Homephone and an internet connection; it doesn’t dial ordinary telephone numbers.

Does every household need an Arc phone?

No. The network is built around Homephone household accounts. The app and upcoming hardware are different ways to connect to it.

Do I need a mobile plan for the home phone?

The planned home phone uses your home internet connection, without a SIM or its own mobile plan. Hardware pricing and any future service pricing haven’t been announced.

Can I buy the phone today?

Not yet. Arc is a design concept, and we’re working towards a small pilot. We aren’t taking payments or promising a shipping date.

Who sets it up?

A parent manages the household through the Homephone app and approves its contacts. The physical phone will be linked to that household.

Is it a replacement for an emergency phone?

No. Homephone is for calls between approved contacts on its network. It doesn’t support emergency calling and needs power and an internet connection.
